Our Father, God!
In the beginning when the God-head, in Genesis 1:26-29, discussed the making of man, they said “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness….In the image of God created He him.” So, we are fashioned in the likeness of God Himself, but not only this, but more, much more. In 1 John 3:1 it says “Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.” The text says “called” the sons of God, not made or naturally born as sons, therefore we are adopted into the family of God. Then Christ Himself says when we pray we are to address God as “Our Father.” Can God show any greater love than this? Tongue cannot utter, pen cannot write the greatness of his paternal love that has been shown to man generation after generation through His dealings with us. As aliens and sinners He has shown His matchless love by this adoption as children of His own family and rightful heirs of His Kingdom. Let us show ourselves worthy of this calling.

Disappointments
Disappointments are part of life, but, how we handle these tests is the most important part of a person’s character, especially when it concerns spiritual matters relating to God and His Word. When Moses led Israel out of Egypt there were many disappointments in the wilderness, and the people showed examples of unbelief in God and His divine guidance. Later on, when John the Baptist came preparing the way for Christ’s entrance, the Jews again, were disappointed at the appearance of Christ and how He acquitted Himself. The guilt of this rejection of God by rejecting their Messiah is upon them to this day. The followers of Christ were disappointed many times. First, when He, the Deliverer of Israel, was slain on the cross; secondly, when He arose from the dead He did not take the throne of Israel, but, for a time left them alone in anguish. Finally, in 1844, the end of the 2300 day/year prophecy of Daniel, when much of the Christian churches worldwide were disappointed that Christ did not return as they prophetically anticipated. The majority turned their back on Christ’s soon return, throwing Christ’s Second Advent so far into the future that today it is totally lost sight of. But, in all of these disappointments, it does not show that God’s hand was not in control and guiding His people. It only showed that the people needed to get back into deeper study of the Word correcting their errors in judgments, calculations, and just overall attitude. All of these disappointment tests are set in writing in the Bible for our admonition today. Let us, of today, not fall into just another “example of unbelief” in God and His prophecies.

Your House Is Desolate!
To the Jews Christ said of His church “your house is left unto you desolate” [Matthew 23:38]. The Gentiles blasphemed against Jehovah because they judged the Jewish religion and it’s God by the outworking of the members and especially the religious leaders. Jesus came into the world and this church not only to save sinners, but His Father’s reputation. The only way He could properly do this was by exposing the truth about His church. Ezekiel 9:4 speaks of those sealed by God as those only that “sigh and cry for the abominations that be done in the midst” of the church. The church of Christ’s day was in many cases more wicked than the Gentiles. Paul brings this point forward in his chastisement in Romans 2:21-24 “thou therefore which teacheth another, teachest thou not thyself? … for the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you.” Christ called His church leaders “a generation of vipers,” “whited sepulchers,” and pious “hypocrites.” It was only after denouncing the church and pointing out the sin within that He began healing the people [Matthew 21:12-14]. For the Holy Spirit to come in power in using Christ for healing, He first had to “sigh and cry” openly over the abominations of the denomination. There is no difference today. For us to receive the power of the Holy Spirit, we first must come face to face in open rebuke of falsities and abominations within the church; and be willing to cry, as Christ did, “Behold your house is left unto you desolate.” For Christ it not only cost Him His membership but His life. How far are you ready to go for truth and power of God’s Spirit?

Unity Based In Truth
We are deceiving ourselves if we believe that the Holy Spirit will be a witness to a Christian unity based upon compromises of Biblical truth. For Christ said to His disciples that when the Holy Spirit would come, it would be as the Spirit of Truth; the same way that Christ came, as “the way, the truth, and the life” [John 14:6]. The way that the religious leaders, in the days of Christ’s life, refused to accept what was prophetically revealed by Him in regards to His life and work; so, the same attitude reigns today, with regard to the fullness of the Holy Spirit in the Latter Rain; religious leaders find difficulty in unity in the truth of Christ’s Incarnation. The Incarnation is the initial step to the complete work of redeeming mankind. Some of the same Old Testament prophecies regarding the Incarnation of Christ, which the Jews rejected, are the same prophecies which are argued today. The first indication in the Old Testament is in Genesis 3:15 where we are told that the Seed [Christ] of a woman [this is definitely after sin entered the world] would bruise the serpent’s head; next, in Deuteronomy 18:15-18 we are told that this Savior would come from the midst of their own brethren with flesh the same as Moses. Then, Isaiah 7:14 relates to us that our Redeemer would be born of a virgin’s womb; and continues on in Isaiah 53 with a detailed description of how Christ met all the human criteria in His appearance. Read also Hebrews 2:14 and 17; Romans 1:3 and 8:3; and Philippians 2:6-7. Being able to rightly divide the Word of Truth is held in the power of God [Acts 1:7], and this power is available only through the Holy Spirit. By improper dividing of the prophecies, through interpretations of finite men, the Jews misread Christ’s purpose and instead looked for a conquering Messiah to elevate Israel to its former glory. The Holy Spirit is not come to flatter religious leaders touting erroneous theories or urging spiritual unions based on compromised truth; He has come to reprove the world of sin and unrighteousness toward His Law; from this the majority turn away looking to their self-made righteousness.

End Time Comparisons
Christ spoke about the end of time of human history on different occasions with comparisons to Old Testament incidents. In Luke 17:26 He said “as it was in the days of Noe [Noah], so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.” Again, in Luke 17: 28 and 30 He said “as it was in the days of Lot … even thus shall it be when the Son of man is revealed.” Also, Peter stated in 1 Peter 3:20 “God waited in the days of Noah … wherein few, that is eight souls were saved.” These comparisons reflecting on Christ’s second coming to take us to heaven speak of “few” not “many” at the end of time which punches holes in the Evangelical teaching that during the 1000 years all humanity will be retrained and eventually make it to heaven. This is one good reason why, in these comparisons by Christ, that He does not say “as it was in the days of Jonah” where the entire population of Nineveh repented and turned to God. Christ warns us in Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” There’s that “many” and “few” again! Here is also the reason why Christ asked the question in Luke 18:8 “when the Son of man cometh, [at the second coming] shall He find faith on the earth?” The Greek in this sentence contains a particle which infers that a negative response to the question is expected. At the end of time, will you be found standing in the group of the faithful “few” who are those holding to the “the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus” [Revelation 14:12]?

Misplaced Allegiance
As we near the close of time on earth, there is a definite need to return to God in a revival of primitive godliness as was experienced by Christ’s followers in apostolic times at Pentecost; read Acts chapter 2. To strengthen His followers, Christ said “receive ye the Holy Ghost” [John 20:22], and then in the upper room, after His resurrection, Christ opened their understanding of truth in the scriptures “that they might understand the scripture” [Luke 24:45]. With a new type of zeal they searched the scripture, and with the fire of the Holy Spirit within, they boldly went into the streets to preach. Through the Holy Spirit divinity entered humanity, converting this body of souls, so that thousands were convicted and converted to the Gospel of Christ in one day. At this Feast of Pentecost these were Jews from all over the world, speaking different languages, but though spoken in one language they heard the Gospel in their in their own tongue. They became convicted of their guilt of crucifying Christ, as corporate members of the Jewish church, the house of Israel; as Peter stressed in saying “Jesus, whom ye crucified,” with their response of - “Men and brethren, what shall we do” [Acts 2:36-37]. They had to realize their corporate guilt of accepting the deceit presented by the priests and rulers. They had to turn from this allegiance to men and human organizations; and turn to Christ as the Lord of their new life. They received new guidance from the Holy Spirit [Acts 2:38]. The main point regarding misplaced allegiance to God is brought out by Peter when he said “save yourselves from this untoward generation” [Acts 2:40]. They had to separate themselves and follow the whole truth. Study to show yourself approved of by God, individually.

Scientific Mind Games
Through sciences such as psychology, phrenology and mesmerism Satan gains control of mankind. Behavioral sciences such as these stated, where it is one mind controlling other minds in blind obedience, was originated in Eden. Mind “conditioning” programs like these get into behavior modifications with conditioned responses. And these animal training principles are used in mental institutions and also in training young people. Educating people to make right decisions and form good habits is our duty, but not to control and program the mind. Sinning or breaking God’s Law cannot be looked at as an animal or machine that can be modified or changed into a saint. This is not true conversion. We should never try to play “god” or apply personal forces to other people’s minds be they young, old or infirmed. There is simplicity in conversion to God which comes only if we are willing to learn and experience for ourselves the dynamic power of the everlasting gospel from the Master Teacher. Christ fears for us in these sciences; as Paul said in 2 Corinthians 11:3 “I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” By following in God’s way we will see sinners truly converted with behavior patterns in full harmony with God. For it says in John 1:12 “as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God.” The power is from God not from within.

Sacred Truth
Sacred, divine truth is the most powerful agent in developing human character after the likeness of Christ. This truth, planted by the Holy Spirit, is then cherished in the heart and preferred over any other thing in life. This truth is needed now more than ever at this time in history when winds of false doctrines waft down from church pulpits everywhere, and the landmarks established by Christ and His Apostles are being replaced by false theories and church traditions. We are admonished by Christ to know the truth for ourselves; in John 8:32 He says “know the truth; and the truth shall make you free.” For us to be instruments used by God, the only way is by being immersed in the Holy Spirit; so that it is “not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit” [Mark 13:11] It is the Holy Spirit that guides us into all God’s truth. At this time when all the pillars of faith are being manipulated, we, individually, need to be firmly settled in God’s truth, spiritually and intellectually, so that we cannot be moved. And it is this baptism of the Holy Spirit that is needed, with self, or ego, being totally crucified [Galatians 2:20]. This is the same baptism that Christ had; and we, as did His followers then, need to answer in the same way “We are able” to receive this [Matthew 20:22]. This Holy Spirit baptism will keep us steadfast in the truth while the parades of sensationalism and emotional frauds go by.

Armageddon – Har Mo’ed
So much confusion and speculation as to, firstly, where this battle is to be fought; and secondly, what kind of battle it is to be. Foremost, the cause of this plague needs to be understood; for it is the sixth of the seven last plagues from God that are to fall on this earth near the end of time. Revelation 16:12-16 informs us that this plague is poured out on the river Euphrates, the waters are dried up preparing the kings of all the earth for battle at Armageddon. And, all of this is caused by the three forces - the dragon, the beast and the false prophet, appearing as the “spirits of devils” symbolized by frogs gathering Satan’s forces to war. This war, is it physical or spiritual; and is the place of Armageddon a valley or a mountain? First, it is “the spirits” leading out here in the form of “frogs,” which catch their prey with their tongues [deceiving verbiage, dialogue or doctrine]. Second, as to valley or mountain – Zechariah 12:11 describes Megiddo as a “valley.” But, the word in the Greek is Har Megedon, not Megiddo; and in the Hebrew it is Har Mo’ed. “Har” means “mountain,” and “Mo’ed” in nearly all two hundred times in the Old Testament means “Congregation.” So, we come down to a spiritual battle fought over “the Mount of the Congregation.” Where have we read this before? Isaiah 14:12-15 we read of the ultimate desire of Satan or Lucifer to sit on the throne of God “upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north;” and as Psalms 48:2 says “Mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.” Jerusalem, Har Megeddon, Armegeddon, “the Mount of the Congregation” is to be the fought-over prize.

Laws, Laws and More Laws!
Theologically, there is much discussion regarding a Law being nailed to the cross of Christ; for at His death He brought it to an end. However, there is a problem here, for there are five basic law types mentioned in the Bible. Are they all done away with? No! First, there are the Laws of Nature – law of gravity, law of seasons, law of orbits which regulate the day, etc. This Law is not nailed to the cross. Second, are the Laws of Health – 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20 say we are bought with a price, and our body is the temple of God, and not to defile it [1 Corinthians 3:16, 17]. This Law type was not nailed to the cross. Third are Civil Laws – In the Old Testament, Numbers 35:11, 12 speaks of civil laws specifically for the Jewish Nation when they functioned under God’s direction; in the New Testament Acts 5:29 says we are to obey God rather than man. So, we see here part of this Law is done away with. Fourth, there are the Ceremonial Laws of the Jews governing the sacrificial system as brought forward in Leviticus 7 and 23, also Hebrews 7, 8 and 9. All of this set of Laws pointed forward in different ways to Christ’s work, and these all found there conclusion at the cross and were done away with. Colossians 2:14 and 17 brings out the point that to observe the Ceremonial Law today is, in reality, a denial of Christ and His work for us. Finally, we come to the Moral Law, or the Ten Commandment Law – this Law will never change [Psalms 89:34]. James 2:8 calls it the Royal Law; Paul, in Romans 7:12 calls it “perfect;” it was spoken into existence by God, written by God on tables of stone; Christ did not destroy it [Matthew 5:17], Christ elevated and magnified this Law [Isaiah 42:21; Matthew 5:21-28]. This Law was not done away with or nailed to the cross. Some Laws are still binding and a few are gone. Right spiritual discernment is needed today in studying. Pray for it.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit
The word “baptism” literally means submersion or immersion, not a mere sprinkling. John baptized “in” water, a total submersion. However, when we speak of the baptism of the Holy Spirit the texts quoted are – Matthew 3:11; Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16; John 1:33. In all these texts the connotation is baptism “with” the Holy Spirit, yet the Greek preposition is “in” the Holy Spirit, not “with.” Hence, from this simple prophecy of promise we have entered into many types of false manifestations of spiritually emotional outbursts, claiming to be manifestations of the Spirit. In Acts 1:8 Christ said to His disciples that “after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me;” but, the proper rendering of the Greek is “of me.” So, to be baptized in the Holy Spirit is to witness of Christ to the world. Christ said in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life;” and in John 16:13 He said “when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth.” Now we see that John’s Baptism was “in water unto repentance;” and then, the Holy Spirit’s baptism is “into truth,” for this is where all the deviations in religion have come in, especially church traditions superseding God’s Word. In the listing of gifts of the Spirit, speaking in tongues is the least and last in importance. However, at Pentecost tongues was highlighted because of the specific need at a specific time. But, the “truth of the Word of God” is what separates and gives the true witness of Christ, for of the followers of anti-Christ they abide “not in the truth” [John 8:44]. For without truth, how do we witness of Him who is the Truth? Finally, at the end of time, with the Latter Rain [outpouring of the Spirit of Truth] to fall, and sealing the people of God; this sealing with God’s mark is a spiritually intellectual settling into God’s Truth, the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Pray for this in each of us.

The Two Mirrors
The big problem with accepting the idea of becoming righteous through faith in the indwelling of God’s Spirit is that we do not want to accept ourselves as we really are. In rising each morning we look in the mirror on the wall, comb the hair, brush the teeth, and apply the cosmetics. All of this we expect will make us acceptable in our daily intercourse. It is all a personal ego-trip of our own works. If we look at ourselves in the other mirror, that of the Word of God, it is painful and something we do not want to accept. We see in this mirror as Jeremiah 17:9 said, a deceitful heart that is desperately wicked; and as Isaiah 64:6 tells of our righteousness as filthy rags before God; and also as Isaiah 1:6 describes a person that from the foot to the top of the head is full of wounds, bruises, and petrifying sores. We do not look into this mirror long enough; we prefer to take the cosmetic approach toward any personal spiritual reform. And then say that the mirror must be wrong because I am a professing Christian, baptized and converted. But, Jeremiah 13:23 said we have become accustomed to do evil, and really, can a leopard change his spots? We forget that in the human nature of man is a natural bent to do evil and this evil cannot be resisted without outside aid. But, the aid is at hand by allowing the Holy Spirit to take over control of our lives; fulfilling what Paul said in Ephesians 2:10 that we are “created in Christ Jesus unto good works.” So, look in the right mirror and cry out “God be merciful to me a sinner” [Luke 18:13-14]. This is righteousness by faith.

Have the Mind of Christ
To truly be a Christian is to follow exactly in the ways of Christ. This goes much deeper than doing as He did, through the infilling of the Holy Spirit; we are to have His mind in us. Philippians 2:5 tells us to “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” In speaking of the followers of Christ, we are also to have “the faith of Jesus” as told in Revelation 14:12. The text says “here are they which keep [not try to keep] the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4:7 that we will “have this treasure [the faith of Jesus] in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” Christ, in referring to His humanity, said in John 5:30 “I can of mine own self do nothing;” He was totally reliant on God to supply the strength to obey His commands in turning from sin. It is the same with us today. This concept of the perfecting of the saints in this last period of earth’s history is very plainly taught throughout the Bible. The last remnant of Christ’s followers in Revelation 12:17 “the remnant … which keep the commandments of God,” and repeated in Revelation 14:12 as stated above, are following a “must;” just as John said of the entire book of Revelation, stated in Revelation1:1, to reveal “things which must shortly come to pass.” We “must” in our life reflect fully the image of Christ. Paul said this in Romans 8:29 we are “to be conformed to the image of his Son;” and in Colossians 3:10 that we are to “put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.” This in no way says that we cannot fall into temptation, but that this is not our habit. Our habit now is to choose the right; our minds have become converted to “the mind of Jesus.”

Egypt Where Also Our Lord Was Crucified!
This prophetic statement in the title is found in Revelation 11:7 “the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.” In a deeper study of Revelation 11:1-13 it speaks of measuring “the temple of God, the altar, and them that worship.” The only way to measure a person, a worshipper, is by their character, and that is only witnessed as to how the law of God is followed; or as Solomon said “the whole duty of man [not Jew]” Ecclesiastes 12:13. Then it speaks of the two – witnesses, olives trees, candle sticks and prophets; thus referring to the Old and New Testaments and how these two witnesses and their adherents are persecuted and put to death by the beast from the bottomless pit. This is done in a city spiritually described as Sodom and Egypt. Sodom and Egypt are spiritually recognized as centers of atheism and fornication, and this is “also” where our Lord was crucified. This fits exactly into prophecy near the end of the 1260 years of Papal rule 538 – 1798 AD with the revolution in France; and the “deadly wound” inflicted to the Papacy with the Pope being taken captive where he dies in captivity with the Napoleonic decree of no replacement for him. The 3 ½ day/year prophetic period spoken of is 1793-1797 where, the French Assembly passed a decree for suppressing the Bible and killing its followers, then parading though Paris a woman on a throne as “The Goddess of Reason,” which introduced Atheism, Spiritualism and sexual licentiousness. Also we read of an earthquake here slaying seven thousand. This 3 ½ year spiritual shaking of France brought in the guillotine with seven thousand titles of nobility put to death. At the end of this 3 ½ year period France re-established the Bible, which only temporarily ended the power of the Papacy, with the “wound” healed in 1929 by Mussolini. Whenever God’s Word is suppressed by theories, traditions from supposed “higher education” we repeat what happened in France and Christ is crucified anew.
